Growing up in Genoa City was an awesome place for a young race fan! Not only
did cars come through town on there way to the track, plenty of home town cars
were around as well.  How could a young man avoid the call to find a car and go
racing!!  Here's a glimpse of how I was affected.
Growing up around Claude Potters sons made it easy to tag along to help pit on their Uncle Deane's car (6).
Not to long before Claude's son Butch started running his own modified.  The IRA had dropped the Modified
division by then so we were part of the MRA club back then.
Watching an enduro at Lake Geneva put me over the edge and it was time to find a car and take a turn behind
the wheel.  The next enduro we started 3 wide all the way around the 1/4 mile at LG.  I think there were only 3 car
lengths of open track that day. What a riot!!  Just like bumper cars at the fair.  We did this for a couple years with
are best finish being 12th in a 120 car field.  Time to go racing for real! Although I had pitted for the Open
wheeled cars I chose a Hobby Stock asphalt car to start my racing career.
Here is my one and only try at a Late Model.  Car owner Chuck Mote gave me
the opportunity to pilot his car. I raced against Chuck and his brother Ray the
previous year. This also was the last year for the 1/4 mile at LG. We only had
limited success do to under funding. Ever hear that one before?
After taking a year off of racing Car owner Fred Koehnke asked if I was
interested in creating a new car for the upcoming Mid-American Stock Car
Series.   Rander Car Chassis, all new with the works!  These cars were all
metric based. My answer was Hell ya!!  Learned allot traveling to tracks all
over the state.  Even won a few races along the way.
A new body for 96!  This also marked our first opportunity to run the
Milwaukee Mile.  What a huge honor! At that time only ASA, Busch
and Indy Car were racing at the Mile. What a rush!
